CIEO builds on the Inclusive Local Economic Opportunity (ILEO) initiative, convened by the United Way Greater Toronto (UWGT) and BMO to bring together the private, public, and community sectors to find innovative ways to reduce gaps in economic prosperity at the neighbourhood level. The Golden Mile is the first neighbourhood to be part of the initiative, and as ILEO expands to include additional neighbourhoods, CIEO will become an increasingly important local entry-point for residents and businesses to participate in and benefit from economic development in the Greater Golden Mile.
CIEO's Vision
CIEO aims to ensure residents and businesses prosper as the neighbourhood develops and continue to call the Greater Golden Mile home.
CIEO's Mission
CIEO will help Greater Golden Mile residents and businesses shape and participate in the growth and wealth of their community by:
building capacity and facilitating access to good jobs and economic opportunities;
advocating for their participation in community-based economic activity and development; and
strategically reinvesting profits from the Aecon-Golden Mile Joint Venture back into the community.
Strategic Priorities:
Grow Aecon-Golden Mile
Support community wealth building with good jobs and enhanced neighbourhood income.
Community Intelligence
Collect local demographic and labour market data to connect residents to new local jobs.
Access to Opportunities
Provide access to training for residents and businesses to strengthen local capacity to participate in good jobs and economic opportunities.
